To test the ebay waters:

1.Go to the ebay website and just look around. Poke around in the corners. See what kinds of items are being bought and sold.

2.Get an ebay buyers account. Go through the whole procedure so that you will understand what your (eventual) customers will be doing or have already done.

3.Bid on an item that is being auctioned so that you well understand the auction procedure and know exactly what transpires when a customer wins a bid, as well as, what happens when a customer loses a bid.

4.Get a sellers account.

5.Dig something out of your attic and list it for sale on ebay.

6.Ship the item to the winning bidder.

Once you have successfully sold one item on ebay, you will know how to swim in the ebay pool.

So, what if you could manage to snare even a tiny bit of the eBay traffic? There is, in fact, a way you can do that very thing depending, of course, upon the topic of your e-commerce website.

If you own an e-commerce website, then you are obviously fairly computer savvy.

Youve built webpages. You are running an online business. Using eBay will be a piece of cake for you.

First...set up a store on eBay. Listing items individually is much too time consuming.

An eBay store is very easy to set up and you can set it so that items are automatically re-listed so the whole thing will take very little of your valuable time.

List a few of the items that you sell on your e-commerce site at fairly deep discounts on your eBay store website.

By doing this you can drive a massive amount of traffic to your own website at a very small cost.

Actually the cost of eBay fees and such can usually be recovered by making only one or two sales per month....in effect giving you free advertising on eBay for your e-commerce website. Its an effort worth making.
